Cloudflare: R2 storage and delivery through a global CDN with data centres in Saudi Arabia
Your current hosting costs money and it leaks your content
- You pay in USD. Bills come in US dollars and per gigabyte, with no easy Saudi VAT invoice and no mada or Apple Pay.
- Your videos leak. Copy the link and it plays anywhere. Paid courses end up free.
- Real protection is expensive. The tools that stop downloads cost thousands of dollars a year and bill by the gigabyte.
- Quality or cost — never both. Either poor quality and slow start-up, or your own server with monthly egress fees.
segmnt: hosting, encoding and playback protection — in one place
- Direct upload to storage. The browser uploads straight through a short-lived, upload-only signed URL. The file never passes through our application server.
- One automatic encode at upload. ffmpeg produces HLS in several qualities (360p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K by plan) with 4–6 second segments for fast start and smooth quality switching.
- Your original file is kept. The MP4 original stays in archive storage (R2 Infrequent Access).
- Thumbnail and review frames. We save one frame every 10 seconds so our team can review content quickly.
- Always signed playback. Every request carries an HMAC token with the video id, an expiry and the allowed domain. A copied link returns 403 off your domain.
- Cloudflare CDN on your domain. Storage on Cloudflare R2 (R2 has no egress fee). Playback runs on your domain, not ours.
- hls.js with automatic quality, never loading a quality higher than the player size.
Your first video in under 10 minutes
- Create an account and a project. Sign in with SSO (Google / GitHub / Reddit / Apple), no passwords. Add and verify your domain.
- Upload the video. From the dashboard or the API. Direct to storage; it continues if the tab closes.
- Encoding starts automatically. All qualities, the thumbnail and the review frames. The video moves from `processing` to `ready` and fires a `video.ready` webhook.
- Copy the embed code. Drop it into your course page (iframe or one JavaScript line). Playback is signed and locked to your domain.
